Select invites you to discover the “other side of Bodrum”
with a number of suggestions to spend a few days away from
continental winter, the low skies, the greyness and plunge
into a blue universe where life is sweet, nature is generous
and the light almost unbearably bright.
Autumn (September-October-November)
is Bodrum at its best: the air is still warm and the sea at
its warmest, the light is astounding, the town is still animated,
but at a different pace. People begin to change down to a
lower gear after the hectic summer. The days are glorious,
while the evenings get cooler and life moves slowly indoors
… preparing for winter.
Winter
months (December-January-February) bring a number of
religious and secular occasions. You feel the arrival of the
first rains and the pleasure of long evenings in front of
the fireplace, with a nice cup of strong tea or a glass of
red wine and roasted chestnuts. Mother Nature celebrates this
mellow season in her own special way with an avalanche of
mandarins, lemons and oranges and brings the olive harvest
and mountains of fresh greens. Some restaurants and bars are
closed for a well-deserved break, but the town remains alive,
with a number of alternative, cosier and warmer venues to
choose from. It does rain, especially in February, but blue
sky is never far from the horizon and winter can offer wonderfully
clear, sunny days ideal for long walks.
Spring
(March-April-May) comes with a riot of wild flowers
(anemones, narcissus, wild rosemary, thyme and sage ....)
under the blue skies, bringing renewed energy to the resort,
where everyone starts getting ready for the summer season.
It is a great time to hike around the peninsula, explore the
richness of the region’s history and landscapes, sit on the
still empty beaches with a good book or enjoy long lunches
of tasty mezes in one of the many restaurants along the water.
